Zachary Habab investment executive professional offers tips about how to earn more cash 2021? The next phase of value outperformance is likely to have greater leadership from non-U.S. markets. Europe, for example, has had less yield curve steepening than the United States. This has held back the performance of its financial stocks relative to the U.S. We expect the vaccine rollout in Europe plus the lifting of lockdowns in the second half of the year will put upward pressure on European bond yields and give the value factor a further boost.
And it will do this at a time when households have built enormous cash reserves, paid down debts and generally regained confidence in the economy and the markets without scaring the Federal Reserve into tightening credit and humiliating us committed bond bulls. Toward that end, I would add preferred stocks (or funds) and well-managed high-yield bond funds to the shopping list. Bonds: Zachary Habab on Be Choosy for the Rest of 2021.
Investing tips with Zachary Habab: Even those investors focused primarily on growth rather than steady income can benefit from choosing gold stocks that demonstrate historically strong dividend performance. Stocks that pay dividends tend to show higher gains when the sector is rising and fare better – on average, nearly twice as well – than non-dividend-paying stocks when the overall sector is in a downturn. The mining sector, which includes companies that extract gold, can experience high volatility. When evaluating the dividend performance of gold stocks, consider the company’s performance over time in regard to dividends. Factors such as the company’s history of paying dividends and the sustainability of its dividend payout ratio are two key elements to examine in the company’s balance sheet and other financial statements.
Zachary Habab on ETF’s: An ETF can own hundreds or thousands of stocks across various industries, or it could be isolated to one particular industry or sector. Some funds focus on only U.S. offerings, while others have a global outlook. For example, banking-focused ETFs would contain stocks of various banks across the industry. Bond ETFs might include government bonds, corporate bonds, and state and local bonds—called municipal bonds. Industry ETFs track a particular industry such as technology, banking, or the oil and gas sector. Commodity ETFs invest in commodities including crude oil or gold. Currency ETFs invest in foreign currencies such as the Euro or Canadian dollar. Inverse ETFs attempt to earn gains from stock declines by shorting stocks. Shorting is selling a stock, expecting a decline in value, and repurchasing it at a lower price.

Money management tips with Zachary Habab: There are too many open jobs in the economy right now to get filled and talent is in high demand. Don’t settle for the status quo. Most people spend more time planning for their vacations each year than they do optimizing their careers. If you’re not making the most of it your full time job and making as much money as you can from it, you’re selling yourself short. Figure out how much you should be getting paid by analyzing your current market rate for someone with your skills and experience by using websites like Indeed and Glassdoor. You should also contact and build relationships with at least two recruiters in your industry. Because recruiters live so close to the market they not only know what you should be getting paid, but they can also recommend additional skills you can develop (check out my post on best skills to learn), and potentially even recommend a new higher paying job or company.
Although the U.S. dollar is one of the world’s most important reserve currencies, when the value of the dollar falls against other currencies as it did between 1998 and 2008, this often prompts people to flock to the security of gold, which raises gold prices . The price of gold nearly tripled between 1998 and 2008, reaching the $1,000-an-ounce milestone in early 2008 and nearly doubling between 2008 and 2012, hitting around the $1800-$1900 mark. The decline in the U.S. dollar occurred for a number of reasons, including the country’s large budget and trade deficits and a large increase in the money supply. Zachary Habab thinks gold will make a big comeback in 2021.
Holding a few funds also allows you to see your entire investment picture more clearly. If you have a laundry list of funds and stocks throughout your portfolio, it’s much more difficult to manage taxes, fees, withdrawals, and concentration. A much better option is to hold a few funds that require little to none of your time. Try to keep activity in your account to a minimum. This can mean only trading when you either need funds to cover living expenses or have an emergency. It can also mean checking your account on a semiannual basis to ensure your asset allocation has remained on target. Trading tends to complicate your tax life, and depending on the broker you’re using, it can be quite costly. One of the simplest ways to reduce taxes and fees is to not trade and let your investments do the long-term work.
